Point Reyes Seashore Ranchers Association (PRSRA) members are families who have owned and operated small ranches within the pristine landscape that is now the Point Reyes National Seashore. These families’ history working their ranches spans back to the 1800s and they are proud to have partnered with the National Park Service to create the Point Reyes National Seashore in the 1970s. This partnership has provided the community with the unique opportunity to experience the thriving relationship of traditional animal husbandry, local food production, and undeveloped California coastline.
To the PRSRA members’ dismay, three organizations have sued the National Park Service with the core intention of removing ranching and the Ranching Families from the Point Reyes National Seashore. With no choice but to fight for their homes, their livelihoods, their history and the food they produce, PRSRA Ranching Families have intervened on the side of the Seashore Superintendent Cicely Muldoon and the National Park Service in the case RESOURCE RENEWAL INSTITUTE (ET AL.) V. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE.
They are seeking financial support to help cover the cost of their Legal Defense. Please consider giving a tax deductible donation to help the Ranching Families and the National Park Service protect the working partnership established long ago, keeping small family sustainable ranches producing local food!
